The Borough is a British crime drama television series that has been broadcast since 2000. The show has always been broadcast on the BBC in the United Kingdom but has switched channels in some countries with it being broadcast on BBC America, CBS and NBC in America. The shows storyline has been about crimes committed in different Boroughs of London but specials episodes have been filmed in Los Angeles, New York City, Havana (Cuba), Tokyo and Seoul. The programme premiered on BBC One on January 4, 2000. In 2013 Time Magazine named it as the greatest television programme of all-time. The BFI Company who rate all television programme series have given a low rating of 97% to series one and 100% to the most recent series (series 15).

From 2013 the programme will air two series per year one in the summer from June till August and another from December to February/March. The series have varied in episodes number from a peak of 72 to a low of 50 in the upcoming series.
